Why should we create?
What should be our incentive to sing, to sketch, to write, to paint?
What should be driving us when we place our fingers on the keyboard, or stand in front of the easel, or pluck our guitar strings?
Today I have three reasons for why you should create, and create today.
Create for the Creator
If you are a Christian creator, then your main incentive to create should always be to glorify the God who gave you your gifts. The Westminster Catechism famously states in its first catechism:
Q: What is the chief end of man?
A: The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy him forever.
Everything we do is a form of worship in some way. So create for the Creator. Create something for him today. Create something you know will make him smile.
Create for the Created
If what you create is for everybody, then it isn’t for anybody. So make it for somebody. Sing your song for someone you know needs it. Write your story to bless a person who'd do well with a blessing. Paint your painting for the person in your life who needs to see the world painted in a different light. Create for the Created. Create something for somebody today.
Create Because You Love It
Finally, create simply because you love it. Grow and expand your skills and abilities so that you can do the things listed above more than ever before. You have been given your gifts for an important reason, and it’s your job to use them accordingly.
So, what are you waiting for? Go create. Create for the Creator, the created, and because you love it. Create today.
I couldn't agree more with this post! I love creating things so much. I'm actually going to Creativity Club at my library today to make art! (And I was bored this afternoon and thought, "Hey, I wonder if E. G. has a new blogpost"--and lucky me, because you did!!)

This is lovely. Just my reasons for creating, too! And when creating for others, don't forget to ask your great Creator to help you create in a way to touch them for Him. :) <3 <3
Aww I love this so much! Beautiful post! 💜💜
