Folk is my favorite music genre. It always makes me think of fall, adventure, road trips, going on quests, and rainy days (all of these go on my list of favorite things). Folk music has often inspired me in my stories, likely because many of my stories involve everything I listed above.
Unfortunately though, folk can also be a very dirty genre. I have to be careful about what I listen to. So a couple of weeks ago I made a big folk playlist (with a hint of bluegrass) that is completely clean. I thought I'd share it for those of you who are looking for a new music genre to listen to, or others like me who love folk but don't want to listen to any unclean songs. You can check out that Spotify playlist here. I hope these songs inspire you as much as they've inspired me. The only content concerns would be that a couple of these songs mention alcohol and drug use.

Our favorite Folksy/Bluegrassy duo is RYANHOOD. They‘re amazing musicians and godly men who often headline the Tucson Folk Festival but have also toured as far as Australia. Check out Sickbed Symphony on YouTube….some of my concert footage was used in that video! It’s one of my favorites due to its subtle Biblical references. ( I.e. “Train your lips to make a joyful noise”) They have a wonderful Christmas album that plays on repeat each December ♥️
(I heard about your blog via the YWW parents FB…my son and husband attended conference this year 🤗)
Ooh, I love folk music too!!! (Especially Irish folk). And I agree…folk isn’t always clean. 😌
I love listening to some of The Hound + The Fox’s songs…such as Loch Lommond, My Jolly Sailor Bold, and The Parting Glass. 💜✨
Sweet. My favorite genre is bluegrass with a hint of folk, so folk with a hint of bluegrass minus all the bad content will be extremely useful.
